John Hebbink – Commodore

John Hebbink has been the Commodore of the MYCT since 2011.

John has always had a keen interest in boats and some fishing.  His first boat was a 15-foot half-cab with twin 70hp Evinrude motors., followed by a 34’ Randall, “Tangara” which was replaced by “Defiant”, a 36’ Riviera Flybridge cruiser.  Last vessel was “Lunatic”, a 45’ Alaska Flybridge cruiser.

A keen sportsman playing a variety of competitions John was for several years the State’s number 1 squash player.  John still regularly enjoys a game of tennis.

Johns career was with AMP which began in Launceston and he moved to Hobart where he undertook the role of President of AMP Staff Association which included representation on the Australian Staff Association Board.  Also, President of AMP Society Agents’ Association, once again on Australian Board.  John is a qualified in Diploma of Financial Planning (CFP) and former Fellow member of AICD.
